Written by on Sat 19th May 2018

After waiting seemingly an eternity, The Kampot Playboys, have now confirmed the release date of their debut studio album ‘Garuda‘, which will be preceded by their first international gig in Singapore and then launch show’s around the Kingdom. The date to put in your diary is 1st June 2018!

We caught up with Co Founder and Baby Playboy Mark Chattaway to discuss his thoughts on their forthcoming launch, which is eagerly awaited by music lovers far and wide.

“The launch is absolutely huge to me and the band, not only have we been working towards it for the last year, but it’s something we have been anticipating, dreaming of and working hard towards [in] the years leading up to the actual recording. We just hope all our family, friends and fans are happy with the finished product as we are as a band.

Me being a dreamer, some aspects were not done the easy route, but I think we have got there in the end. Did I think it wasn’t going to happen? No, never, but there were times when I was thinking “How” are we going to make this happen. The whole process has brought the band closer together. We will be playing a special show at the atmospheric Laundry Bar in Siem Reap (where the band first ever played Siem Reap) on Friday 1st June, then we head down to Phnom Penh to play at Duplex Belgium Tavern on street 278 on Saturday 2nd June where we hope to get the whole street dancing.

We have recorded songs from our favourite singers, Vor Sarun, Yol Aularong and Sinn Sisamouth including two original songs, the most proud of which is “Youth” was written over 5 years ago.” – Mark Chattaway.

The boys will also be performing several launch gigs on their return to Kampot with dates and venues to be confirmed.
