[Updated] After weeks of speculation, last night on The Kampot Playboys official Facebook page, the name of their debut album has been announced. They have decided to break the tradition of a self-titled debut album and have chosen the name ‘Garuda‘.

According to Wikipedia, Garuda (គ្រុឌ) is a Buddhist legendary bird-like creature and in Khmer is pronounced ‘Krud‘. It’s also the DJ name of lead singer Chiet when he takes to the decks.
Having The Playboys in the studio for an interview and short performance earlier this year with Kampot Radio’s Dan Davies, we were given a couple of ‘sneak peak’ pre-finalised tracks to air. We’re confident that the album will not be anything like it’s Khmer pronunciation!
In a recent update on crowdfunding website Indiegogo, The Playboys announced that the initial project was to be an EP, however as they recorded 11 songs at 60 Road Studio’s in Siem Reap last year, they are now releasing it as an album.
A release date is still to be set whilst the album is still in its final stages of production, but now in the hands of a new producer, “it will be released very very soon!” – Mark Chattaway

• Cafe Kmao (Black Coffee)
• River Flow
• Louk Srae Chol Bar (Sell Rice Paddy to go to the Bar)
• Addicted to Cigarette
• Kom Mok Veaja (Madison)
• Jis Domrey Leng Neng Bong (Take Your Elephant Friend on Holiday)
• Neary Maxi (Sexy Lady)
• I’m Bored
• Arapiya Arapiya
• Youth (Original)
