First Waste Recycling Facility Opens in Kampot Province

Cambodia [Kampot Province] has launched the first industrial waste recycling facility with high quality and sustainability assurance – a move responsive to the emerging need of the Kingdom.

Minister of Environment H.E. Say Samal presided over the launch of the plant, branded Chip Mong Ecocycle, located in Banteay Meas district of Kampot province, on Thursday.

Owned by a joint venture between Chip Mong Group and Thailand’s Siam City Cement Corporation (SCCC) sharing 60 and 40 percent of initial US$4 million investment, the facility is capable of recycling 10 tons of industrial waste per hour.

H.E. Say Samal expressed his appreciation of the industrial waste recycle plant and thanked Chip Mong Group and SCCC for the environment-friendly investment.

He encouraged the partners as well as other investors to continue such investment essentially contributing to addressing waste management issue in Cambodia.

According to Oknha Leang Khun of Chip Mong Group, Chip Mong Ecocycle is humbly starting with 10 operators and about 50 sub-contractors; however, it will be expanded in the near future.
