Kak Channthy Killed in Road Accident

The voice of the Cambodian Space Project, Kak Channthy, also known as Srey Thy was killed in Phnom Penh this morning when a car collided with the tuk tuk she was travelling in. She was 38 years old.
The undisputed queen of contemporary Cambodian music, Channthy had reportedly just left a party when the collision occurred. Channthy was born in Prey Veng in 1980.
Her life and work is immortalised by a BBC documentary, five studio albums with the Cambodian Space Project, side projects with Astronomy Class, Channthy Cha Cha, Scott Bywater and many others.
She is survived by her 13 year old son Makara.
